Don Dahlke Originals
Fresh from Don's studio in Mexico!
Don Dahlke
Welcome to the bright, bold, beautiful imagery by Don Dahlke. Your senses are ignited. Feel the warmth of the sun, hear the wind in the fronds, smell the sea air, a bit of paradise you can take home! Don’s trademark is the tropical shadows and also intriguing are the specific details within each piece. These are objects of significance from his life, the stories of which we can only imagine.
Don’s earliest pieces can be classified as whimsical, capturing the spirit of West Indies life. He also has experimented with abstracts in mixed media, and admits to revealing his more spiritual side. The current architectural series has been well developed with a program of originals and canvas limited editions.
"His strength lies in the allure of the island ambience, sun, warmth, and colors."
Don Dahlke’s Caribbean discovery is a long way from his native Oregon. Born in the 50’s, he is the son of a feed merchant. It became clear early on that Don’s call was painting. His formal training finished abruptly when an instructor said, “Just go paint!” That he did. Don and his wife Carole, currently live in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Previously in his career he was inspired while living on St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. Kitts and still visits and paints there frequently.
It should also be known that Don is committed to an environmentally social consciousness. He and his family have opened their home to many and he participates in charitable events and organizations such as Reef Relief.
